More Pancakes Please

For a few weeks now Emily has been making us a hot breakfast each morning before I head off to work. Biscuits, sausage, bacon, pancakes, eggs, and other good stuff have been on the menu. It's nice to start the day off with a warm meal with the family. Sure beats the breakfast bar in the car that I had been eating for a couple years on the way to work. These pictures are from chocolate chip pancake day. The boys loved it, but boy was that a mess. Caleb has also come up with a new word. He calls molasses cumpuss. We don't know why, but no matter how many times we correct him, he keeps calling it cumpuss.

Desiring God Sale

If you are a fan of John Piper and have been wanting to buy some of his books, now is your chance.  The store at www.desiringgod.org is selling all of their books for $5 (plus shipping).  Hurry, the sale is only today and tomorrow.  [the server has been pretty slammed so far, so they recommend waiting until later to place your order]

Lovey Leaders Party

This weekend we had the "Lovies" Leaders from church over for a cookout. This is the youngest age of Awanas at church. Emily worked with the lovies this year, I worked with the older group called the cubbies (Caleb's class). The weather was perfect and we had a blast. The kids all entertained each other and had a watergun fight at the end of the night. [See if you can find Ben in the picture. He's the one drinking the water from his gun rather than shooting it.] Then Ben found the bubble machine and covered himself in slippery bubble solution, but how could you get upset at a face like that!

This little game is first a lot like boggle, and then you have to guess the phrase like Wheel of Fortune. It's pretty fun. Check it out.

Voting Dog

Link
This is a sad commentary on our voting system. This woman successfully registered her dog and he was sent multiple absentee ballots before they caught her. She wasn't try to do anything malicious, just to make a point that it is too easy to register to vote in America. I refuse to buy the argument that asking for a voters ID will intimidate them or keep a person from voting. The only people who will be scared away are the ones who shouldn't be there anyway (i.e. illegal voters). Until this simple rule gets fixed, our voting system will continue to be a laughingstock where even Fido's bark can be heard.

Horseback Ride

Border Ramp Drug Bust

Check out this story.  That is a lot of drugs in the car.  Maybe they should invest in a hummer or something that can handle the ramps better.

Here's a picture of me and beautiful Emily the night we went to Ruth' s Chris steak house for my birthday. Emily and the boys did a good job decorating the den that week didn't they?

DSL Super Deal

This is going to make Emily's day. I just heard about a deal that AT&T is running on DSL service. In order to get the merger with Bellsouth to go through, they had to offer existing customers who didn't have DSL service the option to get DSL internet for $10/month. It requires a one year contract, but the price stays at $10 for 30 months. The regular price for this service is 19.99. If you have Bellsouth phone service and aren't already a subscriber to their DSL then you can qualify. They aren't promoting this deal at all on their website (you have to read the fine print and they let you select it toward the end of the application process.) Here's a link for more info.

I'll let you know once we get it installed how the service is. Considering it is cheaper than most dial-up services I can't imagine I will be disappointed.

Transformers (Part 2)

In case you thought transformers were a fad, you would be wrong. That is probably Caleb's favorite word right now. He's getting better at doing them on his own, but a few transformers have had to be repaired in the process. He is now limited to just the little ones. They have a lot fewer moves to transform them, so he gets less frustrated. Here he is holding his sea-plane.

Etch a Sketch Art

Who knew that grown men were so talented with the etch a sketch? There's no doubt that the guy has talent, even if it is a very weird one.

Scotch Tape Art

Here are some really cool pictures I came accross. All the sculptures are made out of ... scotch tape. I hope they bought it at Sams, because I can't imagine how many rolls they went through. Check it out. Link

Blood is thicker than water, but is milk??

So apparently Islam has a rule that unmarried and unrelated men and women can't be in public places together. This creates a problem at workplaces that employ men and women. Well Egypt's Islamic leaders have released a fatwa (ruling) to help solve this situation, and the workplace will never be the same. Link. (Not for the squimish. Not gorry, just gross in a kissing your sister kind of way)

Here's a little game to test your mental skills. It's fun, but gets tough as you go.

At the playground with the cousins

The other weekend the cousins came over for a few hours and joined Caleb and Ben at the neighborhood playground. How bout those matching sunglasses on the boys?

IKEA Adventure

This past weekend we travelled up to Woodbidge, VA (south of Washington DC) to the closest IKEA. We needed a lot of new furniture for our new house, so we drove up North and did some powerbuying. We found some great deals there on playroom and bedroom furniture. We did hit a little unexpected rain on the ride home, but nothing was damaged. It was a good time, but a long day in retrospect. We shopped for about 8 hours!!! That is one big store. I enjoyed it, and we saved a ton, but if we don't go back for a while that would be ok with me. [Thanks to the grandparents for watching the boys. I know they would have been miserable on this trip.]

All aboard!

Most Saturdays we like to hit the yard sales as a family. Armed with a few bucks we try to find some good deals on toys. The other weekend we hit the gold mine and got all the trains you see here (except for about 10 pieces that we already had) for 3 dollars. Everyone was happy. Emily found a deal, I got a good value, and the boys got tons of new train toys.

RNC Currency

Those who are frustrated with the Republicans immigration bill are being encouraged to send in a zero peso bill if they are asked for a donation. Pretty funny stuff.
