Funny Ears

No wonder the boys love Mr. Jonathan so much.

Our Indescribable God

My dad told me about this video (watch it here online). It is called Indescribable and is done by Louie Giglio of Passion fame. It runs 42 minutes but is worth the time when you have a few minutes. [Just let it run in the background at work and click over when he starts talking about a new picture.]

If you are feeling a little overwhelmed and need some perspective, this will do the trick. Make sure you listen to his discussion about the sun and the power it holds, and get a glimpse of God's might.

Easel Time

Caleb and Ben got a new art Easel recently. We actually picked it up on our Ikea run, but just saved it for a boring day of desperation. They LOVE it. We've now got the whole playroom decorated with their art, and they are starting to fill up the garage hallway. Emily likes the easel more than me. I worry too much about paint being spilled and getting everywhere, but she just wants to pick up the paints and paint a masterpiece herself I think.

Play Ball

This ones a little dated, but I realized I hadn't posted it yet.

"Ben and Caleb have been coming to my softball games very regularly (so has Emily). The boys like to sit in the dugout from time to time, and the other night Ben wanted to come out onto the field with us for the opening prayer. He thought he was pretty big stuff. He didn't understand why he couldn't come out later when we started to play though. He loves toting some of the extra softballs around."

Crown Molding

A few weekends ago my Dad came over and helped me put crown molding in the kitchen. There was a steep learning curve for both of us, because neither of us had ever done it. We had a good time, but there were some frustrating moments. The finished project looks great. Maybe too good. Emily wants us to do the Den now!

Auto Mechanic

If you are ever in need of a good honest car mechanic, let me recommend Raleigh Motorworks here in Raleigh. If you're like me, your very wary about taking your car into the shop because you don't trust the motives of the mechanics. Chris is very laid back, and actually steered me away from doing some work because he didn't think it needed to be done yet. It's a small shop and you'll get the attention you need. He's a Bay Leaf-er and a good Christian man I am told as well.

My New Best Friend

(Kid comes into kitchen) "Mom, I want you to meet my new best friend. Her name is Dora. She really nice and always smiles at me. She has the most beautiful hair. She doesn't change her clothes often, but that's OK because she's my best friend. She doesn't talk much either, but that just makes it easier for us to get along. Sometimes she scares me, like when I think about the fact that if she fell on me she might crush me."

So does Dora need her own booster seat in the car?

Hand Puppets

This is some real talent.

Thanks to Dave for showing this one to me.

Kiandi

When we went to Savanah we picked up some Spiderman metal tins at the River Street Candy store and filled them up with small candy. It was a HUGE hit with the boys. They both like to take the candy out and just look at it and move them around almost as much as they like to eat it.

Aug Beach Trip #13

This first picture is kindof an inside joke. Let's just say the beachhouse wasn't as clean as we'd hoped it would be.

Not only did Caleb really take to Lydia (second picture) but he thought Mr. Ben and Mr. Blake were pretty awesome too.

Aug Beach Trip #11

The boys both slept on the same air mattress that week. Once they fell asleep it worked great. Ben would usually end up half on the floor or laying on top of Caleb by the morning though. When we got home, Caleb asked if they could sleep in the same room more. I don't think Emily and I are ready for that though. They play too much instead of sleep.

Aug Beach Trip #10

At the beach each couple gets a night out while the other two couples watch their kids. A very cool arrangement. Emily and I went up to barefoot landing and had dinner and walked around. It's always nice to eat dinner and only have to worry about feeding yourself!

There were tons of Putt Putt places at the beach, but the boys chose the Dinosaur one to go to. It was a little hot, but fun. Children under five play free. I wish we had known that earlier in the week!

Aug Beach Trip #8

Jenn brought little water toys for all the kids (the kind where you put it in water and it grows to 600 times its size in a few days). They all thought they were awesome, but didn't quite have the patience to wait for the results.

The second picture is Ben and Caleb on the "sneaky trail" through the dunes to get to the beach.

The next picture is Caleb and Lydia. For the next few days after the beach Caleb would just mention every once in a while "I miss Lydia."

Hang Ten Blake.
